The U.S. Coast Guard says Holland America's MS Ryndam cruise ship remains stuck in Tampa Bay due to electrical problems.

The Ryndam left the Port of Tampa around 7:00 p.m. and reported engine problems an hour later. The vessel was running on emergency generators in the darkened bay.

The ship anchored between the Port and the Skyway Bridge.

The Coast Guard says 12 of 20 pistons are working. When all pistons are on-line, inspectors will board the ship and see if is able to head into open waters.

The Coast Guard has not said when they think the Ryndam will be on its way. Until then, the vessel and passengers are stranded in Tampa Bay.

Passengers were ordered to stay in their cabins for the night.

The Holland America websites has a notice on the main page that their site is going down for mainteance, leaving concerned relatives and friends also in the dark.
