Dear Mike
We were also on the Costa Europa when it crashed into the dock on the 26th of February and regret the loss of life. The incident was terrifying. My husband was on deck and an announcement came to say we were secure. Five minutes later we were told to leave the ship. There was a lot of confusion, the ship was listing badly. The crew had lifejackets on but we were not instructed to do this!!
We could write a great deal about our reservations of the way the ship was being handled from Dubai, and we were not the only ones.I have documented several incidents and have some photographs.
We have still not got any compensation and although we booked in Dubai through a reputable travel agent she is constantly waiting for Head Office to approve our claim. Is there any way we can speed up the process?
Good Morning Mr & Mrs Forster
Thank you for your email and I was sorry to hear that you were guests on this particular cruise, indeed the loss of life was deeply saddening.
I have to say that I was particularly concerned by your comments regarding the way in which you feel the vessel was handled prior to this incident, and I would be willing to advise you more if you felt comfortable to explain things in more detail so I may fully gauge your observations. You also make mention of pictures? What do these relate to, was the Master negligent in any regard prior to the collision?
It is also a concern that officers and crew were in life jackets yet passengers were not afforded this luxury?
If you feel you have a strong case and if willing to allow me to investigate this further, I can advise you regarding possible legal action should you feel compelled to do so.
I do hope you have both recovered from the shock and distress of this incident and I hope I may hear more from you so I may advise you accordingly.
Kindest regards to you both
Mike Groves
